The Art House has more fascinating workshops coming in April focusing on stage management. The first is Introduction to Stage Management on the 6th of April at 9AM with Ryan Tate.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to be a State Manager, then this half-day introductory workshop led by industry professional Ryan Tate is for you. It will focus on:


Those attending do not need to have any stage management experience, but an understanding of theatre would be helpful, and participants must be aged sixteen or over. A complimentary morning tea will be provided, and the group is capped at 15 participants.

The workshop will run for four hours and costs $30.00

If you’re looking to take the next step, then from 2 pm in the afternoon, Ryan is running a Masterclass: In-depth State Management for participants aged eighteen and over.

This afternoon workshop will focus on communication and leadership in stage managers, so anyone attending will need to have had some experience as a stage manager.

Some of the key focus points will be:
• Leading teams effectively.
• The creation of purposeful plans.
• Understanding how to collaborate with directors, cast, and crew.
• The responsibilities of scheduling.
• Understanding and overseeing the practical aspects of theatre production.
• Build on organisational skills to ensure a performance runs smoothly.
• Broaden your skills when it comes to cueing and calling shows.
• The importance of prompt copy, note taking and adjustments.
• Solving problems with patience, empathy and confidence using case studies.
• Building positive relationships with the performers and crew at venues and the ones you work with.

Those who are over eighteen and who have hands-on stage management experience can attend this workshop, where complimentary afternoon tea is provided, and it is capped at 15 participants. It runs for four hours.
