Years ago, we all knew that Christmas was coming when we started seeing Christmas beetles. Recently, they’ve become more elusive, and that’s where this fabulous production called
Beetle , produced by Legs on the Wall at the Art House.
Beetle is an instant Australian classic story about a child who makes a new friend in her backyard - and from there, they go on a grand adventure to search for the elusive Christmas Beetle, hoping to find it and restore it to its home.
Beetle uses
Legs on the Wall's physical storytelling to bring the magic of the bush habitat to life. To do so, it uses animation that they have created from Freya Blackwood's original artworks - Freya is a beloved children’s author and illustrator.
Beetle is a tale of resilience and hope that can remind younger audiences that we all have an important place in the world, no matter how big or small we are.
Beetle is a uniquely Australian show that has charm and nostalgia within its story that makes it engaging for all ages. It invites children and their families to join an epic adventure and allows them to encounter larger-than-life beetles, stick insects, and an array of other bush critters on a journey to learn more about the delicate balance of the bush.
