Brisbane Water Aboriginal Cultural Tour from NSW Parks website
If you and your children are interested in local history and Aboriginal culture, then the
Brisbane Water Aboriginal Cultural Tour might be the thing for you. During this walk in Patonga, you will get to go on a family-friendly walk with an Aboriginal ranger and hear cultural stories along the Doyles walking track near Patonga.
During this walk, you will get a unique glimpse at the world’s oldest living culture whilst exploring Brisbane Water National Park, and find out about plants, food, shelter and medicine used by Aboriginal People before colonisation.
It’s a culture that’s very much alive today in the NSW national parks, with deep connections to the land. Learn about how everything has significance, the land, the waterways, the plants and the animals.
This tour is supported by Central Coast Council.
What you need to do:
- Wear enclosed shoes.
- Bring insect repellent, a hat, sunscreen, drinks and snacks.
The walk will run from 10am until 12pm, and it isn’t wheelchair accessible. It is said to be easy for adults and children over five, and is 3km with uneven, rough ground and steps.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children aged 5-16. A family ticket is $40 for two adults and two children.
You will meet at the carpark at the end of Warrah Trig Road, near Warrah Lookout. Bookings are essential on the
National Parks website or by calling 1300 072 757, and bookings are limited.
