Come and enter a world of pure imagination at the Laycock Street Community for eight shows of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , presented by the Gosford Musical Society.

In July, from the 9th to the 13th, a local performance of the Broadway musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will take place. This play is based on the novel by Roald Dahl and the subsequent movie. The original score in this version has been composed by Marc Shaiman, with lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman, accompanied by a book by David Grieg. Never fear though, amongst the new songs are old favourites from the 1971 movie including Candy Man, I’ve Got a Golden Ticket, the Oompa Loompa Song, and Pure Imagination.

Be enthralled as Willy Wonka opens the gates to his mysterious chocolate factory where nobody ever goes in, and nobody ever goes out to a select few: Charlie Bucket, Violet Buearegarde, Veruca Salt, Mike Teevee and Augustus Gloop will embark on a life-changing journey into Wonka’s factory. See chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels, and to top it off, the great glass elevator – all of which is revealed to the visitors and the audience by the Oompa Loompas. The show is directed by David Crewe, the musical directors are Marianne Powles and Kimberley Gilbert, with choreography by Ryleigh Beggs.

The performance is in person, and tickets cost $30. It runs for two hours and is wheelchair accessible. This will be a show for the whole family, so come and enjoy this local performance of a huge Broadway show.
