If you find yourself on the Central Coast on Sunday 28 June 2026 with a crew of restless kids and a desperate need for a full day of distraction, the Australian Reptile Park in Somersby is doing its thing. It is one of those places that has somehow collected every iconic Australian animal you can name kangaroos, koalas, crocodiles, snakes, spiders, dingoes, and a bunch of other native characters that usually require a road trip to see. They run keeper talks and live animal shows all day, so you can learn something while also standing far enough back from the reptile enclosures to avoid becoming part of the programme.
The kids can get up close to the animals, feed a kangaroo if they are brave enough to handle the surprisingly soft paws, and then burn off every last scrap of energy in the adventure playground. It is the kind of hands on conservation education that does not feel like school, and it is also one of those reliable school holiday activities that saves you from having to invent a fun day out yourself. No marketing spin here just a park full of animals, a playground, and a bunch of talks that will keep everyone entertained without anyone having to pretend to be amazed.
