Introduction to Procreate is the kind of course that you might enjoy. Using a portable and adaptable canvas can be versatile, and Procreate for the iPad is perfect for sketching, painting, developing ideas, adapting photographs, tracing images, presenting images, and doing so much more. The iPad offers great flexibility when it comes to sketching ideas on the fly, creating detailed illustrations or painting digital masterpieces, and can be seen as a seamless and flexible platform for digital artists to bring their creations to life.
What does Paul’s workshop offer? To start, you will learn about what is possible with Procreate through an exploration of what you can do with Procreate on the iPad. During the workshop, Paul will share a small selection of his landscapes, portraits, and abstract works to show students what is possible, and to show how Procreate can support studio painting practice and teaching.
After this, Paul will go over what students know about their iPad, Apple stylus and Procreate, but it is okay if you don’t know anything as well because that is the point of the workshop.
Following that, Paul will teach students about the Procreate tools to use Procreate as a sketchbook:
Navigating your iPad and opening a new Procreate file
Working with a range of brushes and erasers
Selecting colours and the versatility of the colour palette
Importing and working with photos
Working with layers
Resizing and manipulating your images
Saving and sharing your artwork
And then, in the afternoon, students will cover:
Procreate as your sketchbook
Drawing from a photograph and drawing from life
From representation towards abstraction
Where to find support and information to go further
Sharing what you have learned
What to do next with your new skills
There are a few things you will need for this workshop:
iPad and charger
Apple stylus
Procreate software installed on your iPad
Capable of low-intensity walk and draw
The workshop will cost $170 for the full day and is perfect for iPad and Procreate beginners or those wanting to learn more.
