Light up the Lake returns in 2024 with a huge line-up for the five-hour afternoon event. From 4pm until 9pm, the Waterfront Plaza at Memorial Park will come to life with activities, music, roving performers, and fabulous food, all presented by the Halekulani Bowling Club. Come along for an afternoon and evening of amazing entertainment featuring headliner Boo Seeka with Bella Amor, as well as RAAVE Tapes, Falase London and Daytrip on the main stage.
If you’re after some epic food and drink, then that’s been taken care of too. You’ll have a choice selection of meals and desserts, right from some of the sunny Central Coast’s favourite food trucks and restaurants along The Entrance Waterfront. And, for the first time ever, there will be a selection of alcoholic beverages for over eighteens – but keep in mind that there are capacity limits.
Nothing can be more fun than roving entertainment that weaves its way through the crowds with its LED lights illuminating the night. There will be colour, light, sparkle and magic as they interact with the crowd. You won’t want to miss out on the fantastic Birds of Paradise with their multicoloured displays of changing colour patterns of light as they soar above the crowds on stilts. You will be able to watch them flying like birds as they illuminate the sky and hover above the crowds to light up the imaginations of everyone watching.
Don’t forget about the wide range of activities for kids at Light up the Lake this year! Come and meet a real-life mermaid or go on a fun pirate scavenger hunt. You can even have your face painted, make some playdough to take home or just get into the messy play.
Let the kids burn off some energy with the Mega Play Climbing Centre, and then if they need a break, there’s the Rocking the Sense mobile sensory room on site.
The Crud Space is a free and creative event for all ages and includes the chance to create a collaborative community piece of art that will celebrate the waterways of the Central Coast, and runs from 4pm until 9pm.
If you’re into the circus, then check out the Circus Playspace or the Glow Flow Playspace with Roundabout Circus in a glowing spectacle for all. Circus Playspace runs from 4pm until 7.30pm and Glow Flow Playspace runs from 7.30pm until 9pm.
You’ll also get to check out some fabulous education and information at Light up the Lake at the Water and Sewer Education Tent. Come have some fun and test your knowledge. Or, head on over to the Waterways Education Stall to get some hands-on learning experience, and find out more about the biodiversity on the Central Coast. Plus, you can meet Coastie mascot, Parker the Platypus! Once you have learnt all about the biodiversity of the Central Coast and the best places to explore, you’ll know all about where you can watch whales, find feathery friends, or catch sight of echidnas or a platypus. After all that, get involved and sign up for the Environmental Volunteering Program.
This event has accessible facilities such as toilets, changing facilities, accessible play spaces and accessible parking. It is connected to shops and restaurants along the Waterfront Plaza. There will also be a mobile sensory room complete with an occupational therapist to assist during the event.
