On Monday 29 June 2026, you can wander down to Pelican Plaza at The Entrance and witness one of the Central Coast's most reliable shows: the daily pelican feeding. These birds have been doing this so long they probably have better timekeeping than most of us. It's a gloriously simple affair – the pelicans gather along the foreshore, looking both hopeful and slightly entitled, while a few volunteers share bits and pieces about their care and habitat. The kids will be mesmerised, and honestly, so will you. It's the kind of slow, unpretentious activity that doesn't demand much from anyone, which is exactly the point.
After the feeding, you can pair it with a walk along the water, let the little ones loose on the nearby playground, or – and this is the smart move – grab some fish and chips and eat them while watching the pelicans pretend they haven't just been fed. The whole thing is free, easy to pull off, and perfect for a relaxed afternoon exploring the town centre and lakeside paths. No sales pitch, just a heads up that if you've got small kids and want to spend a low stress morning by the water, this is about as hassle free as it gets.
