Gosford Regional Gallery and Edogawa Commemorative Gardens is hosting a range of school holiday workshops again during July. So if you have an arty kid, head on over to the above link, or check out the ones below to see what is on offer over the next few weeks that will have something for everyone, from drawing to sculpture, and working with Bonsai. All workshops below are $25 per child, and are suitable for ages six to sixteen - but as always, check the individual workshop information, and remember that bookings are essential if you want to attend.

Bonsai Wire sculpture from Central Coast website

On the 16th of June, there is a Bonsai Wire Sculpture workshop with Vanja, running from 1pm until 3pm. During this workshop, students will create a mini bonsai tree sculpture using twisted wire and beads - this is inspired by the ancient pines in the Japanese Gardens.

Japanese Masks from Central Coast website

If you don’t want to create a Bonsai tree, there’s Ninja and Geisha Girl Mask Making with Maree on the 12th of July from ten am until midday, where your child will get to make a mask inspired by ninjas or geisha girls.

Painted Botanicals from Central Coast website

Kids who love to paint will enjoy Botanicals with Tania on the 15th of July at 1pm, for children aged 8 and over. This workshop is run over two hours with Tania Mason, and is perfect for beginners to advanced artists in high school, and allows students to learn about and explore the world of painting with gouache and exploring the world of botanicals.

Painted Critters from Central Coast website

Tania Mason has another workshop running from 10am until midday on the 15th of July called Exploring the World of Critters , also in gouache and for beginners to advanced artists as well.

Beaded Jewellery from Central Coast website

If jewellery making is more your style, then you can check out the Jewellery Making with Vanja on the 17th of July from 1pm until 3pm, where you can unlock your inner fashionista and make a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery in a fun and exciting workshop.

Weaving from Central Coast website

Come and learn how to weave on a mini loom with Vanja , where students will learn the basics of weaving on a wooden loom with colourful wool, and create a mini wall hanging or a mini mat.

Mixed Media Collage from Central Coast website

Or, you could come and check out Mixed Media Collage with Monika on the 18th of July from 1pm until 3pm. Students will be able to create a collage background that they can draw their artwork on. They will use a wide range of materials such as charcoal, ink, acrylic, pens and pastels, so it is advised to wear clothing that is appropriate for a messy class.

Inky Silhouettes with Monika from Central Coast Website

Come along on the 18th of July at ten am for a two-hour workshop where you will create Inky Silhouettes with Monika for children aged eight and over. In this class, students will get to use a range of tonal washes of ink, and they will create silhouettes of a range of still-life objects – and remember, this is a messy class, so wear appropriate clothing for this.

Collage bird from Central Coast website

Come and create animals out of layered collage techniques in Collage Animals with Monika on the 19th of July from 1pm until 3pm. Students will make animals of all shapes and sizes, and it is a good thing to remember that students will need to be able to cut out a range of small and intricate shapes by themselves.

Foggy Forest from Central Coast website

Finally, come and check out Foggy Forest with Monika on the 19th of July at ten am until midday. Students will use layers of acrylic paint that will be applied in thin washes to paint a forest scene. This scene will appear to be fading away into a thick fog. Students will need to wear appropriate clothing for a messy class.

These and much more are on offer at Gosford Regional Gallery these school holidays!
