On Sunday 7 September 2025 The Ettalong hosts the Dad Cathlon, a seven leg test of questionable athleticism that will single out Ettalong's Dad of the Year. The antics start at noon with live music keeping things suitably uncoordinated while dads attempt feats that may involve tools, pride and a healthy dose of bravado.

Food is treated like a side event with Surf 'n' Turf, BBQ ribs and pulled pork sliders on offer throughout the afternoon. There are prizes and plenty of bragging rights for whoever makes it to the end, plus a relaxed community vibe for anyone who would rather watch than take part.
